JSE All Share Index

The JSE All Share Index closed at 120,584 points on Thursday, down 1.33% (-1,629 points) from the previous session. Despite this pullback, the index remains 35.9% higher than this time last year — a strong indicator of market resilience.

Gold Performance

Gold continued its impressive run, trading at $5,043.92 per ounce, up 2.48% (+$122.01) for the session. Over the past 12 months, gold has surged an remarkable 75% — reinforcing its role as a safe-haven asset during times of global uncertainty.

Rand Strengthens Slightly

The South African Rand traded at R15.93 per US Dollar, gaining 0.10% against the greenback. The Rand has strengthened 2.84% over the past month and is 13% stronger than a year ago — positive news for importers and those with foreign currency obligations.

Oil Markets

Brent crude held steady at $67.60 per barrel. The International Energy Agency maintains that oil markets face an oversupply situation through 2026, which could keep fuel prices relatively stable.
